BLACK AND WHITE - An Oral History Project Of Nigerian Immigrants
We put together an Oral history exhibition of the lives of Nigerian Immigrants who lived in the UK from the 1940s to the 1960s and had an amazing project. Funded by the Heritage Lottery, the exhibition entailed a documentary presentation and a photo exhibition at the Central Library on the 23rd of June, 2016.
The event was declared Opened by His Royal Highness Oba Dokun Thompson, the Oloni of Eti-Oni Kingdom who flew in from Nigeria. The project attracted members of the community who were intrigued to learn about the lives and times of early Nigerian settlers in the UK.
This year we partnered with another Youth Development organisation V2020 to organise a project on Active Citizenship for young people across Europe, sponsored by the European Union and we had participants from Germany, Italy, Turkey, Czech Republic, Jordan and Romania.
Participants developed a number of new skills and were pushed to new limits. A youth parliamentary process was also simulated and participants had the chance to debate a number of salient issues affecting Europe and the middle East.
The event was held at the Quintas Centre in Wales and was a huge success. Our partnership has since span across Turkey, Romania, Jordan and Czech Republic and we are poised to embark on more youth development projects.
